Macanudo Cafe Portofino Panatela

Once upon a time, the Macanudo Cafe Portofino Tube cigar was my go-to stick. Every time I drove from Colville to Spokane I stopped by the smoke shop and picked up a couple--that was four or five times some weeks. I've smoked hundreds of these. I remember the sweet and spicy flavor, plus the seamless, vein free wrappers each cigar was draped in. This is the first time I've smoked a Portofino in about eight years. So lets this cigar stacks up today.

This Macanudo Cafe Portofino comes in a tube, and I you know I can't resist tube cigars. It's covered with a stout, toothy, Claro colored wrapper. There are a few more veins it this wrapper than I remember and there are a couple wrinkles at the seams. Other than that, it's nice. It's packed well full length, plus the free draw has the same sweet and spicy flavor mix that I remember so well.

Once this baby was burning there were flavors of oak, leather, brown sugar, some floral notes, mild black pepper, a hint of barnyard and a nuances of spicy cedar full length. It was a the same tasty flavor combination I remember so well.

Even though the wrapper was a bit rougher than I remember, it was still a great cigar. The burn was razor sharp and it gave me sixty minutes of memories and smoking pleasure. I need to pick up a few more of these for Sunday morning coffee cigars.

Eight O'Clock Coffee The Original

This sample of Eight O'Clock Coffee , "The Original", came right off the supermarket shelf the other day. It's a medium roast blend that included a large volume of broken and partial beans. Actually, I was surprised by the volume of broken beans as I poured each sample into the grinder. When the bag was opened, to the nose there were rich aromas of toast and coffee, while the pour-over aromas were a mix of cocoa and warm bread. I brewed and sampled four cups of The Original to be sure of my tasting notes. On the Eight O'Clock web site they list this coffee as "sweet, fruity and well balanced." Like most other coffee reviews that's not exactly what I found. In my samples there were semi-sweet flavors of toast, nuts and earth, with a hint of cocoa as the coffee cooled. I found the coffee clean and well balanced with a medium bodied, slightly dry mouth feel. Overall, The Original, from Eight O'Clock coffee brewed a flavorful rewarding cup

Tryst No. 2 Robusto Brandy E-Cigar
