Mexico Military Power-AI

Mexico's military power is a complex and evolving topic. According to the Global Firepower ranking, Mexico is ranked 31 of 145 countries in terms of military strength¹. The ranking is based on various factors, such as manpower, airpower, land power, naval power, financials, and geography. Mexico has a large and diverse population, which gives it a high potential for manpower. However, it also faces challenges such as corruption, violence, poverty, and human rights violations, which affect its internal security and stability.

Mexico's military has historically been subordinate to the civilian government, but in recent years, it has gained more influence and autonomy under President Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO)². AMLO has given the military more responsibilities and resources, such as building infrastructure projects, distributing vaccines, policing migration, and fighting organized crime². Some experts argue that this is a strategic alliance between AMLO and the military to ensure his legacy and popularity². Others warn that this could undermine democracy and accountability in Mexico³.

Mexico's military is composed of an air force, a navy, and an army. The air force has about 400 aircraft, including fighters, attack types, transports, trainers, special mission types, and helicopters¹. The navy has about 200 ships, including destroyers, frigates, corvettes, offshore patrol vessels, and amphibious warfare vessels¹. The army has about 300,000 active personnel and 76,000 reserve personnel¹. It also has about 700 tanks, 10,000 armored vehicles, 500 self-propelled artillery pieces, 1,500 towed artillery pieces, and no multiple launch rocket systems¹.

Mexico's military is mainly focused on domestic security and defense. It has a limited role in international affairs and conflicts. Mexico is a member of the United Nations (UN), the Organization of American States (OAS), the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) Partnership for Peace program (PfP), and the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC). Mexico participates in peacekeeping missions and humanitarian operations under the UN or regional organizations. Mexico also cooperates with the United States on security issues such as counterterrorism, drug trafficking, migration, and border control. However, Mexico also maintains its sovereignty and independence from external influences.
