Drew Diplomat Event Series Kicks Off


Drew Diplomat Event Series kicks off with the Liga Privada Unico Serie Velvet Rat and at a Drew Diplomat Retailer near you!

Miami, FL – Drew Estate announced today the launch of the Drew Diplomat Event Series, an event tour that makes stops across the United States at Drew Diplomat Retailers. The final stop of this tour will take place on August 6, 2016 at the second annual Connecticut Barn Smoker, held on the same Connecticut River Valley farm that produces the wrapper for Drew Estate’s Liga Privada No. 9 and Liga Privada T52 cigars.

The Liga Privada Unico Serie Velvet Rat is presented in a 6 ¼ x 46 Lonsdale vitola, featuring the iconic fan tail featured on many Unico Serie Cigars. The cigar features a Connecticut Broadleaf “High” Mediums Wrapper, with a Plantation Sungrown Brazilian Mata Fina Binder and filler leaves from Nicaragua and Honduras. In total, 5,000 Velvet Rats were produced in January 2015, and have since been at La Gran Fabrica Drew Estate aging in the companies cold rooms. The cigar was previously released in October of 2012 at Tesa Cigars, limited to 100 bundles of 10, and at the first annual Connecticut River Valley Barnsmoker last August.

Drew Estate fans who are members of the Drew Diplomat Mobile App Program will also be eligible to receive an exclusive Liga Privada Unico Serie Velvet Rat when they make a qualifying promotional purchase at a Drew Estate event in Drew Diplomat Retailers between now and August 6, 2016, while supplies last. Jessi Flores, Director of Subculture Studios, dedicated a commemorative graffiti mural at De la Esquina de los Bancos media cuadra al Oeste in Esteli, Nicaragua, in honor of the first 5,000 Drew Diplomat Members. 

Jessi, also known as 'Victims', under his street art alias, mentioned that, “This mural is a process that is going to take the summer to complete. We started off with the Diplomat logo and added our unique techniques. We are dropping a Velvet Rat on the wall to compliment the Guardabarranco, the bird that represents our Country. We are proud to see Nicaragua play such a pivotal role in the Diplomat program."

Eight O'Clock Coffee The Original

This sample of Eight O'Clock Coffee , "The Original", came right off the supermarket shelf the other day. It's a medium roast blend that included a large volume of broken and partial beans. Actually, I was surprised by the volume of broken beans as I poured each sample into the grinder. When the bag was opened, to the nose there were rich aromas of toast and coffee, while the pour-over aromas were a mix of cocoa and warm bread. I brewed and sampled four cups of The Original to be sure of my tasting notes. On the Eight O'Clock web site they list this coffee as "sweet, fruity and well balanced." Like most other coffee reviews that's not exactly what I found. In my samples there were semi-sweet flavors of toast, nuts and earth, with a hint of cocoa as the coffee cooled. I found the coffee clean and well balanced with a medium bodied, slightly dry mouth feel. Overall, The Original, from Eight O'Clock coffee brewed a flavorful rewarding cup

Tryst No. 2 Robusto Brandy E-Cigar

Featuring e-juice made in the USA, these  Tryst  e-cigars are a pretty sweet deal. The No. 2 Robusto Brandy is another great example of a cigarette alternative that give me cigar-like satisfaction indoors or wherever I can't smoke a real cigar. Like the last Tryst reviews, I've been puffing on the No. 2 the past two days while writing. Other than its brandy flavor, this Brandy model is just like the the other No. 2's. The tapered head makes it easy to hold hands-free between your teeth, the wrapper is durable showing no signs of wear, it produces a large volume of vapor and the brandy flavored e-juice tastes fantastic.  You probably know I'm not much of a flavored cigar person, but these American made e-juices from Tryst have fantastic flavor, this brandy is really close to tasting like brandy.
